Dr. Matthew Iley

Dr. Iley completed his optometry training at the University of Waterloo School of Optometry in 2003 as well as a previous 4-year honours undergraduate degree in Health Sciences & Biology. During his training, Dr. Iley spent 8 months doing glaucoma clinical research trials under the supervision of Dr. John Flanagan – an internationally-renowned expert in glaucoma. Dr. Iley continues to hold an Adjunct Clinical Faculty position at the School of Optometry, University of Waterloo and is actively involved in both optometry and medical education. He has lectured to students, practicing optometrists, nurses and family physicians across the country. Dr. Iley has a particular interest in ocular disease (diseases of the eye) as well as pediatric eye care (newborn-12 years of age). As an active member of both the Ontario and Canadian Association of Optometrists, Dr. Iley has volunteered on public and professional education committees and has represented the profession at various conferences and meetings. Dr. Iley and his wife Nadine, have one son and twin daughters, and enjoy many activities with their family — music and acting, downhill skiing, mountain biking, water sports, and anything else that gets them outdoors.
